Business cards are a key advertising tool for just about any type of business. Whether you operate online or offline you can get the word out about your company by handing out crisp, professional cards. Adobe Photoshop is just one graphic design program that you can use to create your own business cards.

Step 1 Design Business Cards : Load Adobe Photoshop and click “CTRL+N” to start a new file. A dialog box loads. Set the size to 3.75 inches tall by 5.25 inches wide. This size is the common business card size of 3 by 5 inches, plus extra space around the edges in case the printer needs to cut a bit off the sides–this is also called a bleed. Select CMYK from the “Mode” box and set the file resolution to 300 dots per inch or higher.
Step 2 Design Business Cards : Click the “Type” tool on your Photoshop toolbar. Click inside of the open document to type in your full name, address, phone number, website address, and email address on separate lines on the left or right side of your business card. Add any social media contact information as well. Select the text and click the “Character” window to change the font to your liking. Click the “Paragraph” window to adjust the alignment (left, right, centered) if you wish.
Step 3 Design Business Cards : Click “CTRL+O” to open a new file and browse for the image file on your computer that contains your company logo. Press “Open” to display the logo inside of Photoshop. Click and drag the logo image to your business card file. Position the logo where you want it to appear on the business card.
Step 4 Design Business CardsClick the “Type” tool again to add a new text block. Type in your company motto or another line to describe your business. Again, adjust the text using the “Character” or “Paragraph” windows. This is an optional step.
Step 5  Design Business Cards: Click “CTRL+ S” and save the Photoshop file (saves as a PSD document). Navigate to the “File” menu and select “Save as Copy” to save the card as a TIF, PDF, or JPEG file. Your business card printer will likely request one of these formats. If you want to produce a double-sided business card, simply repeat Ste 1 to create a duplicate document of the same size. Follow the same instructions to add images and text.
